RimWorld is a sci-fi colony sim inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Firefly, and Dune. Players start with three shipwreck survivors on a distant world and must manage their moods, needs, wounds, and addictions. Build your colony in diverse biomes like forests, deserts, and tundras, and watch as colonists form relationships, replace limbs with prosthetics, and fend off threats like pirates and giant insects. Key features include crafting from various materials, trading, and forming caravans for quests. The AI storyteller dynamically controls random events, creating unique and engaging narratives. Choose from different storytellers, like Randy Random, who creates unpredictable challenges, or Cassandra Classic, who builds rising tension. Colonists have distinct backgrounds affecting their skills and behavior, adding depth to colony management. The game generates a full planet for exploration and offers endless replayability with mod support on the Steam Workshop.
