About The Game

Barotrauma is a 2D co-op survival horror submarine simulator, inspired by classics like FTL: Faster Than Light, Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, and Space Station 13. This Sci-Fi game merges ragdoll physics and alien sea monsters with teamwork and existential fear. EMBRACE THE ABYSS In the near future, humanity has taken refuge on Jupiter’s moon, Europa. Life exists only in the ocean beneath its irradiated, icy surface. Navigate this punishing underwater world, interact with four distinct factions, and uncover the secrets lurking in the depths. HELP YOUR CREW SUCCEED, OR ENSURE NO ONE DOES Barotrauma offers as many ways to enjoy it as there are ways to meet your end. Collaborate with your crew to achieve common goals, or prepare for betrayal if a traitor is among you. Play with friends, strangers, or your worst enemies. EXPLORE, OPERATE, COMMUNICATE Travel underwater, undertake missions for humanity’s last remnants, explore alien ruins, and combat or flee from monsters. Operate complex systems and devices on your submarine, such as sonar, nuclear reactors, weapons, engines, and pumps. Effective communication is essential! EXPERIMENT, CRAFT, CREATE Master intricate on-board wiring, and utilize comprehensive crafting and medical systems. Design your own submarines and monsters with built-in editors, and even modify the game using our source code. FEATURES Play with up to 16 players on a submarine, supplementing with bots as needed in single-player or multiplayer modes. Choose from 6 player classes, each with unique skills and tasks: Captain, Engineer, Mechanic, Medic, Security Officer, and Assistant. Gain experience and unlock talents through a talent system with three specialization trees per class. Navigate faction and reputation mechanics: ally with factions, support their causes, and experience the consequences. Enjoy a procedurally generated world and missions, offering endless replayability across multiple game modes. Utilize a comprehensive crafting system: gather materials, craft equipment, weapons, medicines, and more to ensure survival. Use built-in Submarine, Character, and Procedural Animation editors.
